Operation Kids Camp is unique and open to youth ages 8 to 14 years who have
an active duty or retired family member.
Operation Kids Camp Mission:
"Connecting youth from other military families as they share their experiences of growing up in a military family. Through a hands-on approach youth will learn about the natural world in a safe camp setting. Our program will focus on developing 21st century skills such as critical thinking, communication and social skills. Youth will return home with a greater understanding of themselves, be more confident with a greater sense of independence and self reliance".
The Camp is located in the beautiful Barton Flats area of the San Bernardino Mountains. The private 14-acre site is in the middle of the National Forest. Nawakwa sits at an elevation of 6850’ at the northern foot of the San Gorgonio Wilderness, the Camp is 1 1/2hours from down town Los Angeles and 2 1/2 hours from San Diego. The Camp is accredited by the American Camp Association.

"I Am Not Alone"
The main purpose of Operations Kids Camp is for Individual children of military families to feel they are not the only ones going through this experience of a parent serving in the Military. By bringing children from military families together we will provide opportunities for them to establish common bonds of support between their peers, while having fun and making new friends in the process.
Our greatest asset at Camp Nawakwa is our hard working, knowledgeable staff. As role models for youth, they create a healthy and safe community in which children can grow, learn and explore. Staff are selected for their friendly personality, passion for working with children and youth development skills. All staff are CPR and First Aid Certified and have passed federal and state background checks. Each staff member has demonstrated skills through work experience, educational experience, talent and motivation. We also provide additional training to ensure that our staff are completely prepared to work with youth from military families.
$395 (this rate is discounted from our regular 2015 fee)
Multi-sibling discount - any family sending more than one child will receive an additional 5% off per child applied to the camp fee.
Operation Kids Camp is open to boys & girls ages 8 to 14 years who have at least one family member serving in the military or who had served. All military branches eligible. To register, provide a copy of DD214, VA ID, or Military ID.

Johnny McLaughlin serves as the Executive Director of Camping Services. He is a veteran in the residential & day camp industry with twenty five years of experience. He is passionate in his support of military families with previous experience running camps for youth of military parents, this includes running Operation Purple Camps in Northern California and his own Day & Resident Camp programs for military families in San Diego called Camp Yellow Ribbon.

We Need Your Help in Sending a Child to OKC
We at Camp Fire offer a number of scholarship for kids to attend OKC, however we can never meet the need of all the requests we receive from our military families. We need your support, so we can serve as many families as possible. If you would like to send a deserving kid to Operation Kids Camp, either in full or in part you can make a donation. Summer Resident Camp Cancellation Policy
A deposit of $200 per session must accompany each registration.
The deposit is fully refundable until April 1st.
Regardless of registration date, the deposit is non-refundable after April 1st.
Camp fees are non-refundable 30 days prior to the start of the session.
Cancellations and session changes must be submitted in writing.
Please allow 2-4 weeks for refunds to be processed.
Based upon availability we will gladly transfer your camper to another session at no extra charge.
Camp Fire Camp Nawakwa reserves the right to adjust programming or cancel sessions based on the number of campers registered.
Payments must be made by CASH or PAYPAL if paid 14 days or less prior to the start of the session. Personal checks returned for not sufficient funds are subject to a $25.00 fee.
